Raising the subsided floor of a private house, compacting the soil and stabilizing the foundation
THE PROBLEM
During the spring rains and thaws, the groundwater level rises rapidly, which has a critical impact on the construction of private property. We were approached by the owner of a beautiful house, who had watched the concrete floor sink in his living room. “We could see the floor, millimeter by millimeter, settle down to a few centimeters in a few hours …! ”: The owner of the building said excitedly. The inner walls of the building cracked, the door jammed and it was all accompanied by unpleasant sounds.
WORK PROCESS WITH URETEK TECHNOLOGY
Shortly after the customer’s call, URETEK specialists inspected the property: due to the high groundwater level, the sand deposit under the concrete floor has been washed away, the remaining sand layer is saturated with water and an impressive cavity has formed under the concrete slab. The concrete floor no longer had a bearing soil. Due to that sewer pipe connections, communication cables, floor heating pipes are at high risk and they can be damaged when the concrete slab moves.
THE RESULT
URETEK specialists decided to act immediately. To avoid damaging the exclusive flooring, all injections were given from outside the building. The kitchen equipment and other furniture were not even moved. URETEK specialists performed this work in 6 hours. First, the injected geopolymer filled the washed cavities and gaps. Later, as the polymer expanded, water was squeezed out, the sand bed under the concrete floor was stabilized, and the floor was gently lifted back.
